What is Recreational Cheerleading – This is a course where athletes train 1 day a week in a 1 hour session. Registration is online. Recreational cheer is the entry level to allstar cheerleading and offers a curriculum to learn the ins and outs of our sport. Athletes learn a choreographed routine that helps them develop teamwork, leadership and, safety skills that aid them throughout life.
We are very excited to announce that our recreational cheerleading program will be offered at 5 community centres this fall. We are bringing our coaches and curriculum to more places in our region. Please contact The City of Vaughan or the Town of Newmarket for registration information.

What is required – There are no pre-requisites, all experiences are welcome. Most people who participate in recreational cheer have little to no experience in cheerleading. There are no mandatory attendance policies, no competition fees, no apparel fees, and no other fees besides the one-time program course fee.
What to wear to practice – Please wear your official Limelight T-shirt to practice. Also, please wear any comfortable shorts, leggings, or sweatpants. Shoes are required as well and should not be outdoor shoes. We must ensure that our shoes are clean, therefore we do not allow outdoor shoes. Please use any comfortable running shoe with a smooth bottom. Rough edges on shoes can be painful when stunting on one another.
2019 Show Team – The Show Team is an advanced Rec team that trains for more weeks than a regular rec session. They attend one competition at Canada’s Wonderland in May. To be on the Show team, we prefer you have at least one session of cheer, dance or gymnastics. If you have not completed one of these, please contact us for an assessment.
